The Mail project, winning conceptual design study, involved constructing a new larger town centre opening on to the port. The extensive public spaces of the Mail, a symbolic axis linking the city to the sea, underpin this re-development. A new area is being constructed around the Mail including 500 houses, schools, cultural centres and leisure facilities.
